My wife has been wanting a Jeep to replace our Honda VTX motorcycle. Something we can use to bring the dog with us on weekends, go camping with, etc. I think we may have found the Jeep we want.
The Good: It's a 1990 YJ with a CJ grill and a 2005 EFI 4.0L straight-6. Kid traded it to a motorcycle shop for a 2008 KLR. Includes hard and soft tops and doors, winch, CB, stereo system and had bedliner rolled in under a pretty decent (removable) carpet. It's had a small lift and is running 32" Goodrich TAs.
The Bad: Needs a headlight replaced, a new windshield and has some surface rust. The biggest thing I noticed was a LOT of heat coming up from the floorboards. I don't know if that's common with Jeeps due to their general lack of insulation or if there is a problem of some kind I need to find.
We can get it for about $4500:
I don't usually go for mix-masters but I drove this one today and I was really taken with it. We're not looking for something perfect and new, we want a fun "3rd car" we won't mind getting beat up.
All that said, anything else in particular I should look for?
