1989 YJ, good buy?

I'm thinking about buying a YJ.

It's a 1989, 4cyl., 147,000 miles, cosmetically ok for its age, (some dents and faded paint),the first time he tried to start it it took more than a couple cranks(carb problems?), second time it started right up.

he's asking $1500 but I'm hoping that I can get the price down some.

from this info do any of you think this is a good deal?

thanks,
-Matt

ps, I didnt have a camera for pictures

As long as the key rust areas are good, 1500 is ok. Check the frame near the steering box, the rear spring hangers and the floor pans. IF IT HAS CARPET PULL IT BACK and take a look. It is a 4 banger so it is TBI injected NOT carbed. It could prolly use a good tune up. Plan on the basics: ALL fluids, plugs wires, cap, rotor, TB cleaning, check your sensor connections etc etc etc.

All in all, I would grab it up.

Thanks for the reply Ill be sure to check all of those spots for rust when I go test drive it.
I guessing it has the ax-5 which from the wiki, it looks like i could just swap the ax15 in(glad it was in your sig.)

Thanks again and if anyone has anything else to say, post up
-Matt
