1982 cj7 renegade

making an offer on an 82 cj7. original light blue paint. 170,000 miles. new jasper 4.2, warn front hubs, suspension looks good, new brakes, very little rust, rear body mounts rusted out of tub,im handy with a welder.frame is solid.has steel doors drivers side needs work has a small hole at the rear edge of door. no door trim panels. bikini top only i live in nh so a top is a must. hard tops are big money so a quality soft top will be bought. needs new tires has nice rims. trans has a leaky seal.

seller wanted 8,000.00 until i pointed out the rusted body mounts, tires and lack of top. i am offering 6,500.00 and i believe that to be all the money for this jeep. am i in the right ball park?
searching classifieds on here i think that is high but not by much. i really want this jeep.

I'm no expert, but I would think it should be closer to $5k.

Maybe in LA but not up here. 3500 gets you a total junker.

Keep on looking $6500 seems high. If it needs a top, tires, rust repair, body work, paint etc. I agree that 5k is all the money and then some. Next thing you know you'll have 10k in it by the time you fix it up(that's including doing it all yourself)

I would look for a deal. You can find a much nicer jeep for just a little bit more money than this one and you don't have to do much to it.

2001 amber fire cherokee sport 4x4, 2 in lift, 30x9.50 generals, 174 ion wheels, pretty much stock.

I have decided to go ahead with the purchase. The body and paint are perfect except for the two rear body mounts.being in nh cj7 are incredibly hard to find without major rust. An internet search came up with one in a 100 mile radius. They want 8000 and its a rusty lifted one with a tired 350 in it.
This one is from arkansas with no rust except the two body mounts.
The engine and all running gear is all brand new with reciepts.I know I'm paying too much but rust free cjs just don't exist here anymore.

nope, motor was brand new and documented. it had fiberglass patches in the floor, sagging front springs, bad wheel bearings, bad balljoints,a late 70's 3 speed with a leak, some wiring issues(minor) non original paint( painted like an 81), needs tires and the body mount capture nuts are spun. overall its not bad at all, but it is a far cry from the original jeep they thought they had. it has a locker in the rear, a spool i think. looks like a 10-15 year old resto using a late 70's donor jeep. frame is nice
