1971 cj5 what to look for

Going this saturday to look at a 71 cj5 withh the v6. The guy is asking 1650 for it which seems fair. It has a fiberglass body runs good but electrical is incomplete. Sound like a fair price? What should I look for when inspecting it?

Thanks for the input

In this case the frame. The replacement FG body tends to make me believe that the original was rusted out. If the frame is the original, then rust will probably be a problem there too. The electrical is unfinished. The mechanical situation is unknown.
What you have here is a bucketful of question marks, which leads me think that this might be a good parts unit, but even there, maybe not. I would pass.

Check it over well for previous owner mods. If it has the 225 "Buick" it should be an odd fire engine. It would have come stock with a t14 three speed, single stick d18 transfer case. It would be a great option to get an overdrive on the back of the transfer case. Look at any mods and see if it is bubbafied ie mods done poorly. Check where the springs mount to the frame, they are prone to cracking. You have to be somewhat creative on replacement parts on a 40 yr old jeep.

What axles does it have? It's ratios from the factory were 3.73 with 4.88 optional. Being a 71 it should have the flanged Dana 44 in the rear.

Let me know if I can help.
