Jeep rescue (picture intensive)

So my neighbor (SaudiJeep) and I decided to do some light wheelin' and some fishin' today in the mountains of Colorado. We headed out through some nasty Denver traffic, and finally made it to the trail head near Georgetown. We started up the trail (at this point still a windy dirt road) and saw a Toyota that had fallen off the trail and down the hill into the trees. The driver was unhurt, so the only challenge was the recovery of his vehicle.

The trail was narrow, so we tried a few methods of pulling him out.

In the end I just had to winch him up. It took two other vehicles pulling on him to keep him from going back down when I repositioned.

Most of the day was spent shoveling and prying rocks and dirt from under his truck. We also used the hi-lift to get the low side up so the truck could be winched. For all of you that think the hi-lift is a waste, it was not today.

We ended up getting him out and he drove off under his own power with a bit of body and glass damage. This operation took about six hours, so we didn't get to wheel or fish, but it was a good trip anyway.

He said it happened the night before when he was avoiding a deer crossing the trail. I don't know how many drinks he had before that.

Good work getting him out. It is crazy how it can be really satisfying spending six hours pulling someone else's truck out. I think only Jeep guys would find this satisfying and a good days work.

Check out this sticker i made at the link below. I think it fits this situation perfect.

Just a thank you. He didn't even offer. I would have refused, but an offer would have been polite.
