Yea the swirly is was worst part. 10 hrs of labor to pull that out. I saw that mythbusters and I agree, it could have been way worse. I credit the 4" lift for saving my life.

That happened to me a few years ago after i got back from being stationed in japan.

Except we were about 200 feet back. Out on an empty highway, saw the tire blow, i swerved onto the other side (2 lane highway) then the shreaded tire changed direction and bounced over. I just couldnt avoid it.

I was driving a 2500 Diesel pulling a 14' utility trailer, the tire went under me and the trailer. Luckily no damage to the truck, and only banged up the front right corner of the trailer.

Worst part was the guy in the semi, started breaking when the tire blew. But once he saw me hit the tire and pull over he took off fast.

After a few minutes of checking for damage i took off after him. But even after an hour+ of doing 75ish never saw him.

Pictures of swirlies can be incredibly deceiving. Just be careful when you investigate, there's a good chances that a miniature black hole has been formed.

My experience tells me that's a small black hole, BE CAREFUL.

I drive an 18 wheeler for a living and have had several blow-outs. It happens and there is nothing you can do about it, but I hate when someone wants to draft off of me and rides 10 feet or less behind me for this reason(not saying that was the case here). I usually give them a brake check after a minute or two if they don't get off my tail. It makes them mad, but I would rather them be mad at me than dead because a 100 pound tire casing flew through their windshield off of my truck.
