Well boys and girls. I totaled my Jeep yesterday, and I have no idea how I survived. I will start with the story, then show the pics.
On my way home from getting some extra help, my Jeep went boom. I remember the 55mph sign, then the CJ at the old repair shop, and the billboard. I started to come around a slight curve still picking up speed (It just turned 55mph, and I wasn't in a hurry to get to speed). All I can remember is starting to come around the corner, and then Boom. I somehow managed to cross the 2 lane highway (no divider) and popped the curb in from of a Car Wash.
When I popped the curb, I hit the brakes and tried to steer, but nothing. The brass was wet, and I think tie rod snapped. I hit a concrete base holding a lamp post and went airborne (according to the owner of the wash that witnessed the accident) crossing the entrance. The Jeep touched down with one wheel, slid about 20 feet, and tapped a telephone pole with the Windshield. I have no idea how I survived, but I was out fast.
While waiting for the cops to show up, I noticed that the driver's side front coil was sitting 20 feet past the Jeep.
I ended up going to the hospital to get checked out, and my back has been killing me all day (not so bad with the muscle relaxer that they prescribed me).

See how the motor broke the mounts and is now in the driver's fender? The support for the grill also snapped. The frame is bent beyond repair, and it is time to find something new.

Thanks, I have been sleeping most of the day because the Muscle Relaxers have me tired. My dad agrees, if I was driving a mini (which was the only other type of vehicle we were originally looking at), I would be dead. One of those would have rolled after the first curb.

I am glad that I am OK. When at the scene, the only thing I could think about was my Jeep (because I was walking around I had time to worry about it). I am back on the hunt for a Jeep. Depending on what the ins. company asks for it, I will buy it back. I need to make a list of the things done, and how much they cost still.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I am including the Jeepforum.com Sticker in the list. Those things cost $30.

Glad to hear you are alright. What actually caused the accident?

I'm not fully sure. We can't tell if it was a blown tire, loss of steering due to a dead tie rod (which we still can't find), or just me blanking out. Thankfully it was only a one vehicle accident, but it all happened so fast that we can't be sure.
I can remember the signs, and turn before the accident, then a bump, hitting the brakes and trying to turn, then watching the windshield crack. When I turned it off, I couldn't even get it in park. The dashboard was pushed so far back that it hit the shifter, and the keys are still stuck in the ignition.

Holy crap man! I'm glad to hear that you are okay, that could have been much worse! There are plenty of Jeeps out there, you can get another one. What caused the accident?!
