Drowned the XJ

So a few buddies and I decided to go camping. Figured we would load up the Jeep with all the supplies and then the rest of the guys would ride the four wheelers to the site and I would drive the Jeep there. In order to get back to the site I had to cross a shallow creek which my one buddy's Kawasaki KFX 700 breesed right threw. I figured I could make it with the right momentum. Wrong!!! The entire creek bed is slimy rocks and I quickly lost speed. Between the rushing current and me hitting a low spot I got stuck as f***. Started taking on water real fast. So my passenger and I grabbed as much stuff as we could and jumped in the water. Headed to the camp site with the rest of the crowd and chilled out by the fire for a while.

I'll put pics up as soon as my buddy emails them to me.

Anybody want a water logged XJ? lol.

Here's one I gotta get the rest off my phone.

The current was pretty strong but not enough to take the Jeep anywhere.

I went yesterday to get it out and talked to the sheriff and he said that they were going to opening the gates at the damn later on that day which will raise the water level about 2-3 feet and the current is enough to swallow just about any SUV. Got the tow truck out there and the guy said he needed his bigger truck and someone to get out there with the hook cause he wasn't getting in. So I manned up threw on a wet suite and haulled the chain and winch cable out the to hook it up. That water is friggin cold.

Just hook a strap to the luggage rack and pull it out sideways.

lol and you just left it there ? I think my priorities would of changed once that happened. Plus once you got it out the beers would of tasted that much better. You probably want to change all your fluids now if you havent already.

That sucks. I was picturing the small creek to be about 1/8th the size of your picture. Those ATV's went through that? I have trouble on a Honda 450 going through something you would consider a shot glass compared to your small creek. Awesome.

Well I mean it looks more like a creek when the water level is down around normal. It's at least a foot above normal.

I called it quits because I was getting rid of it anyways. It is 2WD after all.

No it's not lifted. It's all stock.

I got one more pic I want to put up but my computer at work has AIDS so it might not be for a while.
