Considering that it is a Benz tranny in the SRT's they can handle quite a bit, but even the AMG Tranny can only handle up to 730+ft/lbs. Mercedes limits there engines to stay below that. So I assume that may have done it in since I am sure there was more than 730 ft/lbs on that engine.

it's not a benz trans bro. don't post if you don't know. it's a chrysler trans, same as in the half ton dodge ram. it's a 545RE, the SRT specific component is the single speed "transfer case" which is more akin to a computer controlled center diff than a transfer case, as it can't just be shifted out of 4wd. there's also an srt specific trans calibration.

good grief, just buy the Rubicon.

that's what gets me.. how does a trans explode during idle? that's got to be BS.. unless he forgot some bolts on the clutch or something stupid.

Anyone else totally disappointed at the 921HP claim and the total lack of engine pictures? Just one shot of a pretty intake manifold. :/

well, seeing as how merc partially owns Diamler, it "technically" is a Merc tranny, although i don't believe to my knowledge its used in any Mercs, at least not any that are identical to the Daimler tranny. this tranny go with just about the full line of dodge trucks and SUV's, after al the heat chrysler got in the late and mid 90's about their tranny's bien complete grbage, they stepped it up big time

94 Red YJ, 2.5, 4.5" BDS lift, intake, exhaust, 33" Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. I think i have the slowest car on the planet.

it's not used in a mercedes, so no, it's not a mercedes trans. gm owns a large part of fiat, who in turn owns a sizeable portion of ferrari. does that mean the enzo uses a gm tranny?

Youre losing the point.... There should have been a manual racing trans in it. Even if he would have replaced with the Tremtec 6060 that the SRT and recently RT manuals, have including the viper, the clutch can only take 750 ft/lbs. Also, once you get close to 1000 hp you should strap all mech parts (including blower around the block) just like they do in NHRA to reduce shrapnel like that. Guy's a moron. Its too bad too. SRT G Cherokees are pretty sweet. Thats one is all but worthless now.

I read about this a few weeks ago. This guy deserved it.

He blew loads of money on aftermarket things (as you can see from the axles, suspension, and nitrous). Can't remember the details but basically the idiot more than doubled the power output (srt8 is 450hp or something stock) but left the ORIGINAL TRANNY in the Jeep. Anyone with a brain should realize that stock transmission can't take that. He brought it upon himself.

32" Destination M/T, Adjustable Front Trac-Bar
Upper and Lower Adjustable Control Arms

DD: 2000 LR Disco 2. stock.
