Gurley, Alabama

Hey guys, me and a few guys from work are planning on riding up in gurley to the stair steps, and its been 10+ years since i've been there and for the life of me I can't remember how to get to the trail entrance. Anybody here from Jackson/Madison county area welcome to come along if you can help me find it, haha. Thanks guys.

Did you make it up there? The stair steps I know of are on Coal Mine Mtn. Out near Killingsworth Cove/Maysville - are those the ones you are talking about?

Yes you are both talking of the same stair steps, there are just numerous ways to get there. Don't bother trying to go up from maysville, all of that side of the mountain is private property and you'll be lucky to not get shot going that way. However, there is access to coal mine from highway 72. This again is covered in private property so it is difficult to get there but the gate stays unlocked due to legal reasons. I am not promoting riding up there due to all of the issues with it, but if you can find a way to the top it is all public that I know of up there.
