Here's hoping that there will be a Camp Jeep in 2009. As you know it was cancelled for 2008 due to the "uneasy market and re-evaluation of Jeep sponsored activities and events", at least that was the party line from Jeep Marketing. My contacts within the Jeep Platform are very concerned that the 2009 event will also be shelved as a result of the market downturn and frankly, because nearly all of the employees involved with the Camp Jeep program have either retired or been laid off recently. I am anxious for the 2009 Camp Jeep event but things look pretty shakey as of now. Let's hope it happens because it is an awesome event that every Jeeper should experience. My suggestion is to bombard Jeep Marketing with letters of support and interest for the Camp Jeep event, believe it or not, they do listen to the customer base. OAK RIDGE gets my vote for the location. Hope to see you there.
I hope it even happens. If not, my club will do a CJ Bandaid run for that same timeframe again in the crozet area. We still had a blast last year with some folks showing up from as far away as Orlando.
If you like Oakridge, prizes and Jeeps, Check out UFWD rides. A great org and they get access to this property twice a year.

I was at the Chicago Auto Show on Tuesday the 17th. While visiting the Jeep display we decided to take a ride in the Jeeps they were driving around on a course they set up to show the capabilities. I asked the driver about Camp Jeep this year and he told me that they had found out that morning that it had been cancelled for this year yet again. He said he works for the company that puts Camp Jeep on. I thought I would share that little bit of news I heard, and I'm hoping this guy does not know what he's talking about!
