NW Arkansas Trail Run 09-18. Devil's Den Park

Hello all. I wanted to extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to join us for a trail run. I figured it would be nice to actually put some faces with some names and enjoy a nice day out in the woods. Currently we have three members, including myself that are going to do a trail ride.

We will be meeting in the Devil's Den State Park on Sept. 18th. Devils Den is about 10-15 miles south of Fayetteville and it is an extremely beautiful area. Here is a link to the park to get an idea.

Devil's Den State Park, cabins and horseback riding trails near Fayetteville, AR - Arkansas State Parks

This is open to anyone who would like to come. Even invite your friends. Bring your stock jeep or your buggy. I'm sure we will not do anything too extreme because we all have to drive our jeeps back home anyway. I know two of us have a winch and recovery gear so there should be no problem getting someone out of trouble. Please respond to this thread if you would like to join us. As the date gets closer we will be posting our meeting time and place. I hope to see some fellow JF members out there.

I believe the trails are called The BuckHorn trails. The Trailhead is on HWY 220 just South of the park 5-10miles (not sure) at Fall Creek. For us River Valley guys its north on Hwy 59 out of Van Buren to Hwy 220 take a right and drive till you get to the Area. not hard to miss. A big clearing for parking right after you cross the creek. I been there but only went about 10mins down on of the trails. Hopefully someone will come thats been before.

I may join ya'll if you don't mind. I usually go out by myself or with one other buddy of mine. All my other wheeling buddies have trailer queens. I've been down some of buckhorn several times. You can also leave the big parking lot and come out just west of chester.

sounds good. Are the trails mild or a mix of both. What is to be expected? Are they overgrown with brush? Should I put doors on?

Can you post up a time to meet, any time is good with me but I have a friend that is going to ride with me and I need to coordinate a time to pick him up.

Also is the specific meeting place the trail head by Fall Creek off of 220 or the State Park area?? Trail head sounds good to me. I think I know where that is but have only been there one time a long time ago. If one of you don't mind PM'ing me a cell number in case I can't find it I would appreciate it.

Look forward to meeting everyone and enjoying the trails.

The trails are mostly mild. Theres a few deep mud holes closer to fall creek but I steer clear of them never know what people throw in there. I pushed a couch out of one of them. It's been a couple months since I ran it, but I'm supposed to run it this coming Monday and I'll be able to let you know about the over growth a little better.

Is there any way we could move the Run up to this weekend Sept 11th? We have Little League games starting on the 18th. I can make it either way, but if we go this Saturday I can bring the Family.

Ran a section of buckhorn yesterday. Dry and dusty. A few big trees down but already trails around them.

I'd rather wait and go next weekend with everyone. Besides I think it's supposed to rain this weekend and my wheelin buddy is out of town.
