New to Off Road

Ok I got my Jeep in March this year andfinally got new tires and rims. Except for th tires/rims my JK X is pretty much stock, except for the front bumper. I am curious , what would yall suggest be my must hae purchases before Imake a run at a serious off road experience. I can mudd in he pasture and back roads, but want a serious off road challenge. Let me hear from ya. Also , for those near Texas , where do you suggest to go? I leave near DFW.

Thanks
