Near Houston?

I live about 45 min South of Houston and was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to get off the pavement in the area.

DUUUD. Hurricane Highway look for it on maps. Head out 10 east. Go to Port Aurthur Texas. The road out that way just ends and turns into beach and broken tarmac. It is about 30 miles of all beach. Don't get stuck during summer the mosquitos will frikkin kill you. You'll first end up an nekked Crystal Beach. Take the ferry over to Galveston and go to VooDoo Daddy's for brewskis and party down.

Good one - one and half day (if you get lucky at VDD) day trip.

If I recall closer to Crystal were some semi decent tarmac legdges to climb up and down.

Also up north of H-Town in Spring are some cool sandy washes/trails.

Other than that.... Matagorda (south on 59 then some road), S. Padre, Big Bend, Arkansas or Potash, OK.

I used to be a member of Katy TX4X4 group 98/99? They still wheel out at I-10 and Grand Parkway behind the theaters. I come down to H-town on business about once a quarter.

TX4X4 and Tx4WD are two separate organizations. One sprouted from another due to a nasty debacle that happened before my time, before I started the Galveston Chapter of Tx4WD.

We are Tx4WD. I dont think I even know anyone in TX4X4 and I know a lot of wheelers.

You are in. Just make sure you can see "Galveston Chapter Discussions" towards the bottom of the page. When you registered and were approved it should have become visible to you.

You should do a "Shout Out" and introduce yourself there.

We have a meeting coming up in a few weeks. Info is in our Galveston section of the forum.

I'm probably moving to Houston later this year and would like to find a club to ride with while I'm there. Let me know of any in the area please.
