Impromptu Solo Camping in Moab.... during EJS

Soooo.... I've been in the Jeepin community for over a decade and I've been building 4wd's even longer... but I've never been to Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. In fact, I've avoided it for many different reasons. Anyways, I just happen to have 6 days off work during EJS and I thought I might head down there. My question is, Am I going to be able to find a camping spot if I just drive down there? Will I be able to wheel without running in to 20,000 Jeeps in a line? and last but not least.... anyone want to come with me? thinking Thursday the 14th - Sunday the 17th or somewhere in there. I'm driving an LJ Rubi on 33's and just need to get out after a long winter here in CO!!

BLM has closed a lot of areas to camping over the years so its going to be hard to find a place to set up without being in a campground. If EJS is running a trail its closed to the public. Its one of those events that has gotten too popular.

Go to http://www.rr4w.com/ they host the event and a copy of the newspaper for the event is on the page and tells all. I have been there the week before and week after in past years and the hotels and campgrounds are pretty full then.

Thanks for the reply. Kinda talked me out of it. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait a few weeks for it to clear out.
