Mid march is still winter in Colorado...especially in the area you're talking about.

Where's Eagle County?

I'm not too familiar with off road trails but I can try to help you find free camping in some beautiful wilderness areas if you don't mind sleeping in the cold.

Eagle, nice area. But it'll be cold still in mid March.

How about something along the lines of a small cabin or yurt at a State Park?

Sylvan Lake is just south of Eagle, and is really a great place.

Just my 2.
