Wow what a feaking weekend. So I pickup my Jeep in Memphis which is about a 10 hour drive for me. Everything checked out and seemed to be perfect. I trailered it back home. I got it off of the trailer and drove to O'riley's to get some new fluids, plugs, wipers, and all kinds of stuff. I spent about $100 bucks. I get home and go to pick up my buddy to help me and the freaking pinion gear bombs.
So after figuring out exactly what went wrong and what my options were to fix it I drove to Springfield, MO the next moring at 10 to get a D35 rear end at a junk yard. I put it in and just got it finished up this afternoon. Finally got to drive my rig and take her down a few little trails here in a gravel pit.
Although I am still a little weary about my rear end work and the overall reliability of the jeep, but I LOVE this thing. It's my first jeep and I dont know what took so long!! This was the first time i've ever even thought about changing a rear end so it was a huge learning experience for me. I finally baked it out of the garage and took a picture. Im going to take it easy on it for a few days and re-check all of my bolts and whatnot but im pretty impressed with how it turned out. Enough BS'n here's a pic (BTW, i was in the middle of taking my mirrors off.):
Almost under 4!!! I have about 46 into it right now with the new rear end and ALOT of time for only owning it for 3 days lol. Here is a pic from tonight. I found some mud holes out in the gravel pits on the east side of bella vista. I was suprised on how she just pulled through them. I was a little scared on some of the big hits because of my new rearend but everything held up perfect! Those are my two buddies in the picture. We learned real fast that pressure washers and bad hardtop seals dont mix on a cold night.
Man i was looking to dust off the ol' Cannondale this weekend too. But we are going from 70 degrees on friday to 40 on saturday. Looks like I wont be biking for a second.
I know...what a bunch of crap.
Oh well...we're gonna do another biking (SlaughterPen) & BBQ (friend's house) night tomorrow night...this will be the first time I've ridden since I mangled my knee in November at the Dynasty in the Dirt, so I'm nervous. I know I'm not ready for the harder/hillier trails yet, but I hope I can still do some exploring.
