Wharton Clean Up Camping Trip???

I was thinking while we were out in Wharton on Sunday, saw a lot of trash laying around. We did pick up some of it and got it out of there, but there is still a ton left out there.

I wanted to get some feedback to see who would be interested in coming down to Wharton for a weekend in the spring and doing some trail riding and cleaning up along the way.

If we can get a group about the size that was out there Sunday to go, I think we could clean up a lot of the trash that I am sure everyone saw laying around.

If anyone is interested, I will be happy to take the lead and get the details together. Thinking a time frame of late March or early April so that the trails are clean in time for everyone to enjoy through the summer wheeling season.

Feedback?

I wouldn't make coming out for the whole weekend a requirement or anything. If people can only come out for a day, or a few hours, or even visit us in the middle of the night, that is cool. Just want to get everyone out to lend a hand in cleaning the place up.

There are enough things in this country working against people who enjoy automotive hobbies, we don't need a handful of slobs ruining it for the rest of us

Everyone talk it up with your friends and on other boards. I think if we aim for late March everything will be thawed out, but it won't be all hot and mosquito filled yet either.

I will make some phone calls and see if I can get info from the forest service or park rangers or who ever to let them know and see what kind of rules or obligations we are going to run into.

I asked a few of my buddies that were there this weekend and they are all down for an early February trip back to the Atison Ranger Station.

I think the local S.J. Geocaching group already has a clean-up date organized for earth day weekend. I'll try to find a date. Jeepers should make contact with Rangers though. We need the good P.R.
