Hey guys quick question about the pine barrens.

Im gonna be taking my first trip up there with my friend who has a F150 probably in the spring. Because both of our rigs are our DD we dont wanna mess them up to the point where there is serious damage. We definitley dont mind getting them muddy though! My question is are there relativley easier/less deep trails, and once were there how do we find them?

There is over 500 miles of fireroads, trails, etc there! Many are easy enough for me to have them in my Explorer a few times during the summer. Here is a link to some of the other sites. Down under "camping" you'll see Atsion, Godfrey Bridge, and Bodine Field (where my family camps). All are full of trails and such.
Also you'll find entrances all up and down RT 542 from Batsto to 206.

And here's the link: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/wharton.html

Have Fun!

OK cool, ive deffinitly seen some of the trail entrances off of Rt 542, and if im not mistaken some other roads as well. I just didnt have my jeep then. One last question. Do the trails have signs so you are able to find your way out, or do you basically just have to remember the way you came?

No signs that I've ever seen except on the roads for campers areas and even those are far & few between.

If you're really going in deep off 542 and you have a 2nd person get them to map out the turns, splits, and such. If you look around that website there is a place that has some maps I think.

Brings drinks, food, and extra fuel if possible. I've been lost in there and it's fun up to a point...also cells are kinda iffy in there. A compass is handy too!

If I can get my heep to stop vibrating with new shims tomorrow maybe we'll run into each other. I need to break in this new lift a bit.
