you should check out the main page on jeepforum.com and there will be a forum for where to wheel or something like that. you might have to end up joining a club

That mentioned location is a grey area at best, and to get this post in before its moved, PLEASE PLEASE stay off those trails. They're not meant for wheeling, they're hiking trail access roads. The government of LI has enough negative views of off road vehicles/Jeeps/ATVs already. We don't need them to start taking away the 2 permits we have like they've threatened already. It sucks for me to be upstate at school and know people are posting these places on a public forum.

Otherwise, the beach is a great time as long as you follow the rules and have the requiring permit(s).

Join a club, or get some buddies together and hit Rausch Creek.

take a drive to either the Pine Barrens of NJ or Rausch Creek in PA..

I have been to both and would gladly go again.
If interested let me know, you really only need 2 rigs to go.

If you go wheel out east, let me know which DEC cop impounds your rig, so I can thank him when I see him later.

This site considers Hot Water Street illegal, so I'd remove that from your post before the banning starts...

Stick to the beaches on LI, remember to carry out what you bring in.

If you have a spot that can be wheeled (LEGALLY) please share it with the other members of the forum. I'm sure it would be a great spot for a meet and greet! However I'm not holding my breath because unless it's private land it doesn't exist. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything but I spot where a bunch of guys could get together would be awesome.

I already had that arguement here, it also shows up in mapquest. Just telling you that this site considers it illegal and you will get banned for talking about wheeling it. Was just trying to help a fellow LI'er out. A couple of weeks ago, a bunch of people went out there and talked about it here, they got banned, and the next day the DEC was out there and put some traffic cones across the enttrance. Go check out some of the LI threads....

I'm telling you now, it IS illegal because becuase it is an ACCESS road to HIKING trails. You are supposed to PARK on it, then HIKE.

In order to be LEGALLY on the road, you need a Suffolk County Green Key, and some other Hiking/Hunting Parking Permits.

Just because it shows up on Mapquest doesn't mean its free reign for everyone to tear up. I'm telling you now for your own safety, and for the name of all Jeepers and other wheelers on LI. Long Island Off Road IS watching these threads, and IS letting the DEC know whats going on. Honestly, get off the Island and wheel somewhere where its actually wheeling. Head out to Rausch with some buddies and do some real trails, then you won't even bother with the gas money to head out and wheel out east.

Lastly, its things like this that give wheelers such a bad name. The I don't care attitude and whatnot. Do you wonder why we don't have an ever-expanding amount of legal trails and parks welcoming wheelers from all over the NE with open arms?? It's because of bull **** like this. Trails like Rausch and Mabell are awesome trails and they get pressure from environmental groups ALL the time to be shut down. Even though PAP was a different circumstance, they still got shut down.

The fact is the majority of wheelers are mature and responsible and where they wheel, and ironically are quasi-environmentalists. We are the ones pushing for land use and the idiots are the ones posting vids on youtube of jeeps ripping up fields and thats what gets shown to the public, not the responsible wheelers.

Don't **** it up.

/rant.
