Does anybody know the requirements about 3rd brake lights in PA. My 95 YJ never came with one and I don't want to be getting pulled over.

Did you just get the jeep....or did it not come from the factory with it.....even though i dont think that it really matters....hence why people can get away with having them covered with things. My third brake light says JEEP....never had gotten into any trouble for it....also my 54 doesnt even have one.....so i think that you should be okay

in pa past a certain year it is required to have a 3rd brake light the only problem you might have with this is when you get it inspected os if you know someone it would be good to go to them. the only time a cop is gona pull you over is if he sees you have the light and its out then he will let you know and give you a warning or he might pull you over because he is an ***. like alot of the colonial regional or the catasaqua area cops.

If it was not origanally equiped with it then it is not needed to pass inspection nor to pass any laws.

there is not a book that tells an inspection mechanic what lights came on a vehicle, therefore if it is not there you dont need it. you cant cover it up with tape or anything though. it has to be visible if it is there. as far as haveing stickers on them you are alowed to on the 3rd brakelight just not the side ones.
later steve

I highly doubt you'll be hassled, but I'm pretty sure you need one (legally) if it came from the factory.
There's a difference between what's legal and what you can get away with. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should run around with stock tires and such because some politician passed a stupid law that interferes with our freedom. But it's good to at least know IF you are in fact breaking the law, so you are better prepared to deal with it if/when questioned.
