off-roading in WI
I'm not looking for places to "wheel" but more places to go offroad, like unpaved roads and the such. Anyone know of any?
Thanks, teb

get yourself a gazeteer http://www.amazon.com/Wisconsin-Atlas-Gazetteer-Delorme/dp/0899333311 and you'l be amazed at all the places you can go. Just make sure to have a cone-along and tow strap. My first noob mistake a few years back was to assume that my new jeep couldn't get stuck, a $300 tow bill proved me wrong

Where we go is just outside of Lakewood. Im not really Familiar with the area. A friend of mine has a cabin in Lakewood it takes about ten minutes to get to the trail from his place. I'm pretty sure its off F somewhere.
A stock TJ could do alot, but I wouldnt go without a group of rigs incase you run into trouble. We usually wheel with a group of 5 or more rigs. My 97 TJ Sport handled ok with the 4" lift and 33's. And the XJ in the second pic was stock with 31' TSL's, he did ok too but ended up puncturing his fuel tank on some rocks. he would have done better with some more ground clearance.. Both of us needed a tug from time to time tho. ![]()

Doing some research on this area: here's some links:
It appears to be in the area of WI Deloreme Gazeteer p.48. areaC-4. I don't see a specific road labeled "Pipeline" but I know a lot of the dirt roads in this area and they're either marked as white or not marked at all. http://greatlakes.2bigbroncos.org/past/2000-10-28/ http://forum.ih8mud.com/tlca-land-use/25871-work-day-scheduled-pipeline-lakewood-wi-nov-13-a.html http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23945 |

Yeah the first two links are the in the area where we go. It is very technical in some parts but there is usually a bypass and if not you can winch or get tugged through. The Rigs we go with are pretty stout like a K5 Blazer on 48's, if he cant make it we find another trail. I'll try to find more info.

Here it is! This is where we go they have 150 mi. of trails. I think its like $20 for a rig and $15 a night for camping. Great facility. Give them a call they can explain it better.
