Hey, There are some rumors flying around that the land at Mccaslin Mt in WI is no longer accessible though the camp? Has anyone heard anything about this?

McCaslin Mountain temporarily closed till the end of the year and possibly longer??? - Wisconsin Off-Highway Vehicle Association

I found this off the WOHVA website. They have asked that people not call McCaslin Mountain campground to pry for information. I hope this goes well as many of us GL wheelers have been there.

also check here too. sounds like some work is gonna need to be done to the trails if there is any shot of them opening. i know if help is requested, im going up there.

I did see that on their site. I know some others and myself would go up to help. We need something concrete though. Like a work day. The gut reaction is to pitch in and work hard to get something done, but these things are complicated. I wouldn't want to go up there with people and get in the way, or cause a problem. I'm sure they will need help, and I'm sure that they will reach out to WOHVA and WOHVA will reach out to the clubs in an organized fashion.

yup, some of the trails were closed off. the pond was closed for good i think. Machete was closed but will be re-opened some time around memorial weekend. im not sure when the park is gonna open though, i still think its sometime around Jan 1st.

One of the main land owners had his portion of land enrolled in a DNR management program and that is what sparked all this. The DNR found something and it began all of this. Apparently the DNR is handling everything. WOHVA has extended a hand of support but isn't going to bug them about it because they have a pretty good relationship with the DNR. There was one cleanup weekend in November but I don't recall hearing anything about it.

I believe one of the other land owners has the land up for sale. The campground owns a small portion of land but the rest is largely held by private land owners that benefit in some way I'm sure.

Are you referring to the pond in the quarry or a different area?
