Moab, Rubicon and ? 14-27 Jun 10

I got my leave in for my 1st real vacation in years. I will be meeting a coworker driving back from Airdrop school there. That 2 Jeeps so far. Dates are set in stone based on his grad date, but could change. Flexibility is the key to Airlift, or so they say!
We are posting this invitation for a few folks with very reliable and trail competent vehicles and complete trail gear, supplies, and finances. We're not inviting anyone who believes in trail or vehicle carnage. We just want to run every trail while we can while there, not fixing or towing Jeeps, Trucks, Motorhomes etc.
A week in Moab then a week between there and California. During this period, from what I can tell, there are no big events going on at either location. There is also some families from a KC club forum who'll be going that time period that I might see about hooking up with if there's only a few more of us.
I'm open to doing trails on the way to each destination that other participants know about and want to do. Colorado, Nevada?
I plan on towing my Jeep down and camping in my camper the entire trip.

Dam*, sounds like a blast! Trail efficient rigs and folks with a budget for the vacation criteria will exclude me from the candidates list. Nonetheless, I'm excited for you guys and envious as hell! Hope you have a ball and take lots & lots of pictures & video! I'll crawl the thread and keep my good eye on it for future updates!

I know you have that.

Sounds like a great trip, good luck. I hope to be a bit more trail efficient very soon. Looking forward to run with you again this summer.

Hmmmm. Let me do some checking. That sounds like a blast. I may have a couple others interested if you're looking for a few rigs to tag along. All the rigs and tow rigs are as reliable as they come.

They better be Brian, as you work at a dealership!

Thanks, Andy, I'd like to think so, too. That's just a bit-o-humility peeking out on my end and an acknowledgment that my 4x4 driving confidence and skills could use some tweaking!

However, on the "work" side of things, it's been incredibly slow (residential architectural drafting) and sales of my winch switches wouldn't fund anything other than a steady diet of Jolly Ranchers at this point! That said...

I'm in the process of funding/setting up a web site and placing some advertising in Crawl + vendor status on some of the forums we all frequent to generate activity/sales. Still, that activity is "time" away. Until then wheeling at Moab and California/Rubicon Trail (maybe Johnson Valley or whatever that place is called?) is just simply out of reach for us.

Next year will hopefully bring optimism and a stable & growing economic environment. By then you'll have Moab and maybe the Rubicon + Johnson Valley and others under your belt and can host a trip for those of us who have only dreamed of it so far!

This is only your FIRST trip! :highfive:

Who knows if there'll be a 2nd one to there soon for me. We'll see.

Is there an experienced person going that has done these areas or trails before? SOmeone to guide the way? or is it all newbs going that have never hit these areas before?

I'm planning on being in the Big Bear area and could easily alter or extend my plans to hook up with the group.

My buddy had to bail for family issues. It's 90+ temps in Moab and the Rubicon is still buried in snow! Shoot.
