JF Search and Rescue

After reading the "wow jk rollover story" i am truly inspired by the guys on that forum.

I think the mods should add a "search and rescue" forum to the site.

I know i would help with every situation i could and im sure im not the only one.

BTW, If you havnt seen that thread its worth a look

I have already started a thread in the "wrangler general" section but we are looking for more people that would be onboard with the idea.

Since it would be search and rescue and recovery operatoins it would be region specific, how often do you guys check this area?

We could use the help of anyone and everyone we can get to make this happen!

Whose up for it?

I check this section very often, and I'm glad other people do too:

I'm down for JF S&R, but unfortunately for the next (at least) 3 years, I'll only be in the NW about 3 months out of the year.

But I'm definitely willing to be on the call list.

Do you have a link to the jk story?

if you want to get involved locally, I would recommend joining the TSF trail patrol. I can point you in the right direction if interested. Last year we had First aid training, hands on training with Life Flight, and an in field mock rescue exercise with the local sheriff search and rescue squad.

Have thought about this as well. But, most of the county S&R teams only work on missing persons or body recovery.

This would be more of a fellow wheeler got stuck in a deep trench and requires assistance. I have the intentions of having this be more NON life- threatening help. Although i also have the intentions of getting certified as a searcher becuause i plan on joining the Lane County S&R team when i go down to college next year

I have actually been very much contomplating an idea like this and starting its own website.

I know alot of Jeep Clubs ussually offer a phone number to call if you need assistance in their area. Alot of times they charge anywhere from $50 to $150 depending on how far away/how difficult/how many guys you need to help you out. This is a pretty good deal considering what you'd do without them.

However, I know damn near any of us on the forum would come to help you out if you needed it. I have tons of recovery gear, and even had to pull my little brother's YJ up from over a 75-80* incline upside down 15 feet below, held by 4 trees. That one was pretty crazy.

I don't think we need a dedicated forum, anyone can post for help in the specific region they are in?

I would be down, but I need a job to start fixing the YJ as is. I also don't think we should call it 'Search and Rescue' it is kind of misrepresenting the services. I think 'JF Recovery' would be better.

I would also suggest opening it up to more than just JF or jeep members as I know people on the local search and rescue team would be interested in a service like this. We also have a local 4x4 SAR team that trains often for vehcile recover. They are generally well equipted, knowledgable, and experienced.
