2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 V8 Ready Made Trail Rig
Ladies and Gents please allow me to introduce the most awesome, fully prepared, you can go anywhere and still drive to work every day, vehicle available in the Bay Area.
I am selling one of my favorite toys -- a 4" lifted 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition running 33" Pro Comp A/T tires, powered by a punchy 4.7L V8 with only 121k miles at the time of writing. I have personally taken what is already a vehicle synonymous with off road capability. . . a Jeep. . . and made it that much more capable. 2004 is the last year Jeep offered the solid front and rear axle Grand Cherokees, marking the last Jeep capable of both tackling the Rubicon and transporting you in complete comfort to your next meeting.
This Jeep has all the creature comforts you would find in any premium vehicle, including power leather seats, auto windows and power mirrors, ice cold A/C, and a premium stereo (upgraded Kenwood Excelon KDC-X595 with Sirius XM radio, iPod control and MP3 playback with USB and AUX front inputs).
Jeep supplied this vehicle with a solid 4x4 Quadra Trac II system. It employs a two-speed chain-driven NV247 transfer case featuring three modes of operation -- 4WD HI, N, and 4WD-LO. In 4WD-HI, torque is applied to the rear wheels under normal driving conditions. In 4WD-LO, the front and rear axles are locked together through a 2.72 gear reduction ratio.
I have added $1000's in upgrades to this Jeep to make it a trail ready rig, including, but not limited to:
4" BDS 448H lift kit.
Upgraded front shocks - Rusty's RX200 Monotube Performance Shock: R-236.
33" Pro Comp A/T Tires with 16" Pro Comp wheels -- includes 4 wheels and tires and a full size spare and wheel. Plenty of tread left on these -- see pictures. Front bumper trimmed to ensure no rubbing of the tires.
JKS Quicker front sway bar disconnects. These make all the difference on the trail, greatly increasing front axle articulation, and are a cinch to take on and off.
Iron Rock Off-Road Rock Sliders.
Kevin's Off Road (KOR) Transfer Case Skid Plate. This thing is so thick that is can take the whole weight of the Jeep!
Gas tank skid plate -- This one is not the wimpy OEM one, but is thicker! I can't remember the brand however.
Rusty's Off Road front recovery points -- Much more sturdy than the OEM parts with retaining clips to ensure tow ropes don't slip out.
Old Man Emu (OME) Primary Steering Stabilizer.
KOR Secondary Steering Stabilizer.
Cobra I9 Ultra III CB Radio with Fire Stick antenna and rear mounting point (antenna easily removable for daily driving). The radio is conveniently mounted in reach of the driver and has a detachable microphone.
Upgraded stereo with Sirius satellite radio, iPod control and front mounted AUX and USB connections - Kenwood Excelon KDC-X595. The stock 6-disc changer is still installed in the back but not currently connected.
Hard-KOR '99>'04 WJ Grand Cherokees Roof-Mounted Light Bar with 4 super bright lights. Wired to work from the factory fog light switch.
KOR roof mounted tire carrier with full size spare. This frees up interior storage. The OEM spare wheel bay may now be used as a tool chest under the cargo area floor.
K&N High Flow air filter. This both allows more air to get to the engine, increasing performance, and is reusable so you never have to buy a filter again!
The Jeep passed CA smog in November, and registration is paid until November 2014. I replaced one of the catalytic converters to pass smog, so it's good to go for years to come. I replaced the spark plugs last year, and have always used fully synthetic oil, changing it every 5,000 miles without fail. The oil was changed very recently (Dec 22nd 2013). I also replaced the transfer case 2 years ago.
This Jeep has been used off-road, but only about a dozen times. There are of course minor scratches and some damage to the rear bumper. All of this is purely cosmetic, and is in line with normal wear and tear of an on- and off-road capable SUV. The interior is immaculate with no rips or cracks in the leather, and the carpets are all clean.
So to sum up, this is a ready made trail rig that also is a great daily driver. The punchy 4.7L V8 provides great pickup from the lights, plenty of low end torque for climbing steep terrain or rock crawling, and is smooth and powerful on the freeway. Nowhere else will you be able to purchase such a capable all round vehicle for the price of just a few weeks of rent! The only thing this vehicle lacks is a new owner!
Please call/email/text me if you would like to come and test drive this vehicle.

In picture 3 you appear to be missing a lug nut
In other news, nice Jeep!
