1978 Jeep CJ7 - AMC 360 V8 - $6,000
Hello All,

Let me begin by telling you that the Jeep is not driveable do to a broken rear drive-shaft and rear axle perch welds. I was attempting to teach my 15 year old how to drive a manual, and the first time he tried to start off the drive shaft broke at the spline joint. I honestly have no idea how it happened because there really was very little stress put on the drive train (he didn't even pop the clutch). The only thing I can thing of is that the perch welds had already broken allowing the rear axle to rotate up therefor extending the driveshaft enough to make the extension joint too weak to handle the torque. Its very strange because we drove the Jeep to the parking lot and I showed him how to start off multiple times. Anyway, the Jeep now sits in the garage and runs great, but I don't have the time or the tools to fix it. There are a lot of custom parts on the Jeep so I am not even sure how to find the correct axle replacement. I have owned the Jeep for 8 years during which time it has been garage kept and not been off road. It has very little rust and the rebuilt engine has less than 20,000 miles on it.
