1955 CJ 5 for sale
$0.00
Posting for a family member. He's selling his 1955 CJ-5. First year for the 5. Asking $2500 and located in NE Texas 75501. 95% complete. Just needs seats and a few dash pieces. Drivetrain is complete and all original. Ran until previous owner attempted carb work. Has some typical floor pan rust but body is fairly decent. Never been registered either. Was bought by the local Army depot then sold to PO at an auction and he used it around the farm.

Can take more specific pictures for serious inquiries.

I believe what you actually have there is not a CJ-5, it's an M38A1. NICE!!!

What are you seeing that confirms that?

I'm just curious, looks like a CJ5 to me, but you may also be right.

The hood has the hole for the snorkel, the battery box, the fuel filler and the front hubs.

Early CJ5s had the snorkel cut out, the battery box cover is just a faux non functional on the CJ5, I don't know about the hubs.

It's a dead ringer for mine, which is a CJ5.

You're correct, I am not as up to date on my CJ knowledge as I once was. I am more into my FSJ's now a days. Used to be a huge CJ guy back when I owned them but now I have a 98 TJ, 78 Cherokee and a 75 J-10. I've gotten too old and sore to ride in CJ's anymore. HA HA HA HA !

M38a1's have the front shackles to the rear and a slave receptical on the passenger side forward of the door opening. 24v electrical, I dint believe the m381 had a tailgate either, among other things. The jeep in question is a cj5

Still available? Yes it is a cj5, early cj5s had some of the components borrowed from M38A1s
