I'm running the same size on 16's with a 2" lift and 1.5" RC spacers. You'll be OK but a wee bit of trimming of the front plastic bumper will prevent rubbing when you're at full lock (left or right) but the inner wheel well should be fine.

Many MANY thanks good sir. I very much appreciate the response... what info i have been able to find online since posting has led me to the same conclusion. I dont think the wife will appreciate me chopping up her bumper. and being that it only gets minimal use off road ( hunting, camping fishing) nothing extreme. iam concerned about rubbing on ties and lines etc...

i then found some smaller tires... is 235/60/r16. essential just a tad over an inch shorter than stock tires..

and reason not to downsize with a 1 inch drop in height? its only snow tires.

The 235/60-16 tires won't have even close to the correct weight carrying capability for what the Jeep needs, the Jeep requires a tire that has a certain load index (the 2 or 3 digit number with a letter attached to it found right after the size on the sidewall) and the 235/60-16 is much less than what the Jeep requires, which will make the tires run under more stress than they are designed for and will make tires fail or blow out. Most tires in the 235/60-16 have a load index of 100, which means they can carry around 1764 pounds each, where as the stock 245/70-16 tires have a 109 index, or 2271 pounds each. So overall, you are shorting the carrying capability of the tires by over 2,000 pounds. DO NOT put that size on the Jeep
