Will 33x12.50 fit on x8 wheels?

Hi all, first thread here. I'm in the market for some new tires and possibly wheels. I'm eyeing 33x12.50x15 tires on 15x8 wheels. I have read from manufacturer specs that the minimum wheel width for 12.50 models is 8.5". I even called some tire shops and most of them said they won't touch it for liability reasons. From what I've read and gathered, the jeep community finds these to be the best pair. My question is, for a mostly daily driver, should I be concerned about slipping a bead when driving down the highway?

Thanks!

the the 8" will hold a bead better than a wider. That is why people in jeeps tend to run them. "poor mans locker". i ran 15x8s om my JK for many years. all were mounted and warrantied at Discount tire. Never an issue here. That was on 35x12.5x15s. ran those as low as 6psi and only a few times did one slip. at the normal psi of 27 never would. the wheels were steel bought at Discount as well. The wheel had to modded a bit to even fit and they still mounted balanced them and Certs. even had one replaced.

Ya, I was wondering the same. I found a set of wheels (15x8) and tires (BFG KO2 33x12.5x15) from TireRack, but they wouldn't mount them for the same reason. So I switched to 16x8 wheels and BFG KO2 305x70x16. These tires will mount to 8" wheels.

I've had 33X12.50 tires on 15X8 wheels on my TJ for several years now with no issues. I do have them aired down to 30psi front and 28psi rear for full tread contact to the ground.
