Well You have 29x9.25 now so you could go 30x9.5 15. I wouldnt go much larger till you get a lift. 15inch tires will be much cheaper than 17.

You can buy used 15 X 7 wheels from XJs all the time cheap in the classifieds at this forum, though I'm not sure if they'd fit your Jeep. In fact, does anyone know for sure if a 15" rim would fit his Jeep? I don't know the model initials he indicated. What I do know for sure is that a small R15 tire will outperform a small R17 tire by a wide margin, if his Jeep can fit an R15 rim. |

Sorry I can't help more. I just don't know WJ stuff. Also, in the unfortuneate even that a 15" rim won't fit a WJ, then a 16" rim would be better than a 17" rim, IMO. Also, always look for load C tires if you can get them. That's easy with a 15" rim since all R15 tires are load C. It's difficult with 16 and 17 inch rims to get a load C tire because few R16 and R17 tires are load C, but a few are. I know BFG makes one R17 load C (though way to tall for your stock WJ - it's a 32 X 10.5). Dean SXT MT and Mastercraft Courser CT offer R16 tires that are load C, but they're also 32" tall. With a 15" rim you'd have MANY load C tire choices. |
