Two or Four???

Seems the origional owners of my LJ didn't rotate the tires (i did tho!) it has 27 thou and the now fronts that had been the backs when they owned it- NEED replacing--The rears (now ) look fine --can i just go and get two new fronts and then down the road get the same later-i'm staying stock 30/950/15's-Advice is welcome--If i needed trailer tires i'd get 4

It is my understanding that if money is tight, replacing just two tires at a time on a two wheel drive vehicle is fine. Heck we do this on our Police cars sometimes. But on All Wheel drive vehicles (no low range transfer case) and four wheel drive vehicles, (like yours) it is almost always advisable to replace all four tires at the same time.
