Trxus MT pizza cutters. Vote for tall skinny sizes & Interco will consider making

I should have set this thread up as a poll in the first place, but at the time I didn't know how.

Eventually this thread got so long that I had to redo it as a poll.
You can find the poll here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f15/trxus-mt-please-vote-1-3-tall-skinny-tall-medium-sizes-you-want-1144241/

=====

Original post of original thread below:

I talked to Interco on the phone today. The fellow I talked to told me that Interco has already resumed making Trxus MT in 3 sizes (33 X 12.5 R15, 34 X 12.5 R16, and 37 X 12.5 R17) and will resume making more sizes each month. Over the next months they will resume making all sizes again.

I think maybe by February or March they'll be making all previous sizes again.

I expressed interest in new sizes that are tall skinny and tall narrow: 32, 33, 34, and 35 and was told that they would be interested in making them, if there is sufficient interest.

I was asked to make a thread at the forum I belong to (JF) and mention the above info, and ask who's interested in tall, skinny, sizes of Trxus MT radials. If there is sufficient interest in this thread, Interco will consider making one or more sizes I mentioned below. They might even make all of them, if there is sufficient interest in this thread. Interco management will be reviewing this thread in the future, as a means of market research to decide if they will start making tall skinny sizes of Trxus MT.

For those interested, please weigh in by voting for new size(s) you want. Below are examples of new sizes I'd like to see. I was told that if there is sufficient interest, Interco might make some or all these sizes. The below sizes are sizes I'd like to see made. You can vote/post for those size(s) or other size(s).

=====

Edited in Later: I'm going to create a poll for the size choices so it's easier for Interco to read.

=====

P.S. - I didn't ask, but I assume the R15 would be load C, the R16 would be load D or E, and I have no idea what the load rating would be for the R17 since I have no experience with R17.

For myself, I prefer R15 load C, but I'd consider an R16 load C or D. I don't like load E (rides to rough on a Jeep, IMO). With regard to R15 and R16. I don't have any opinions about R17.

I've never punctured a C. They're tough enough for me, and they ride the best/softest.

However, it's possible that a load D might be needed to keep sidewalls from bending/leaning over during cornering with very tall, skinny R15 or R16 tire. Alternatively, if the tire is a bit wider to gain sidewall stability, it can still be a load C. So while I like tall skinny (and tall medium width) tires, there are limits to how tall and skinny it can be and still have stable sidewalls during high-speed cornering.

I'm looking for a balance for all purpose use on and off road. Not to skinny and not to wide. IME a 10.5 to 11 width tire is a great all purpose tire, especially when tall. Also, IME, a tire 10" or narrower makes the best winter tire, but for all purpose use year-round I prefer 10.5 to 11.2 wide. A 10.5 to 10.8 is best year round for all climates, IMO. But when a tire is very tall and small diameter wheel, like a 35" R15, then it might be necessary for the tire to be 11.2 wide to have adequate sidewall stability during high-speed cornering, but 11.2 is near medium width and good enough for multipurpose use. A dead on medium width tire is a 10.8 IMO. A 35 X 10.8 R16 would be possible, IMO.

I don't know how to setup the voting thing. Please post your preferences and thoughts in this thread.

Interco will be reading this thread later, studying it, and thinking about it for new sizes to consider adding new sizes of Trxus MT. This thread is free product research for them and our chance to be heard. While the topic was my idea when I called them, it was the Interco rep who suggested I make a thread about it so he could read it later and submit it to Interco management for consideration.

You're not limited to the sizes I posted in OP. Ask for any size you want. Please keep requests to widths between 9.5" and 11.2" wide because this thread is about narrow and medium width Trxus MT.

Ask for any height tire you want. Please keep in mind that Trxus MT run approx 1" taller IRL than BFG or Cooper of same stated height. So a 32 Trxus Mt is similar height IRL as a 33 BFG or Cooper. A 34 Trxus MT is similar height IRL as a BFG or Cooper 35. And so on...

So when you request a given Trxus MT tire height, keep in mind that it will be about 1" taller than a BFG or Cooper of same stated height.

I could go for some 33x10.5 or 34x10.5 in the future, potentially.

I'd like an OD 33-10.50-15 or 34-10.50-15, that would be very cool! Great info, Thanks CB3!

How about a 32 X 10.5 R15 Trxus MT? That's an aggressive hybrid, IMO.

The existing Trxus MT 31 X 10.5 R15 probably already fits your needs because it runs an inch taller IRL than most brands of 31. So compared to other brands, it's like a 32 X 10.5 R15.

How about a 33 X 10 R15? That's a size they'd possibly make (because it can be based on an existing Trxus MT mold).

Since this is a wish list for tall skinny sizes of Trxus MT, you may request any size you want.

The R15 sizes I put in my OP were the sizes I requested on the phone. The R16 and R17 sizes in the OP are the sizes the Interco rep suggested adding to their line, along with adding the R15 sizes. Though all this is subject Interco reviewing this thread in the future, to determine if there is sufficient interest to make the new tall skinny sizes, and if so, which sizes have sufficient interest.

However, if you want to request other heights or widths than what I did, go ahead. It's OK. I prefer 10.5 wide to 11 wide. If you prefer 9.5 wide, then go ahead and request it. Though I think that a 10" width is the narrowest they'll consider making because it's the narrowest they already have a mold for.

They'll consider whatever each of us requests when they read this thread. It's not limited to the sizes I requested. But please let's keep requests to widths that are between 9.5" and 11.5" because this thread is about narrow widths. Note: I realize that 11.5" wide tire isn't considered narrow when the tire is 33 or less tall, but 11.5 is narrowish when the tire is taller than 33 or 34.

As for tire heights, I requested 33 to 35 X 10.5, but you may request any size(s) you want.

Keep in mind though, that Trxus MT tires run about an inch taller than most brands per stated size. For example: A Trxus MT 34 is same height as a BFG or Cooper 35. Please keep that in mind when you request tire heights for Trxus MT tires.

This doesn't relate directly to tire sizes, but it is relevant to why someone would want a Trxus MT in general, and especially why someone in a Northern climate might want a narrow Trxus MT.

It's both a great MT tread that works excellent offroad and has good street manners and is relatively quiet, and it is also a great hybrid tread (AT inner treads with lots of sipes and MT outer treads with one sipe each).

Trxus MT are the only MT I know of that is also an excellent winter tire and an excellent DD tire year round. This makes it rather special because most MT are lousy on ice. The Trxus MT is a great MT, a great winter tire, and a great year round DD tire. This is true for all it's sizes, and is especially true of narrow sizes. Narrower tires are well known to be the best on winter roads, and also make the best DD sizes for road manners, gas mileage, acceleration, and braking.

The 31 X 10.5 R15 and 255/85R16 (33 X 10 R16) sizes of Trxus MT that already exist are great, but we also need taller sizes that are (ideally) 10" to 11" wide, and it'd be nice to have very tall tires that are 11" to 11.5" wide, like a 36+ X 11 or 36+ X 11.5.

The Trxus MT are (IMO) a great hybrid tread and a great MT tread, and they are radials! How often can you find a tall skinny radial tire with a tread pattern you want? Almost never. Interco, please help us have more tall skinny sizes of radials with good tread and well siped! Trxus MT specifically fills that need, if the tall skinny sizes were available!

Anyone wanting tall skinny tires please post what you want and any thoughts you have on the topic. Interco will read your posts and consider them.

The size I want most for my own Jeep is 34 X 10.5 or 10.8 R15. A 10" to 11.2" wide tire would be close enough to make me happy.

My Jeep was previously setup to work best with BFG 33 X 10.5 R15.

It's now setup (tire clearance and gearing) for Trxus 34 X 12.5 R15 (same height as a BFG or Cooper 35). I like the Trxus MT 34 X 12.5 R15 a lot because I like the tread, sipes and height, but I'd much prefer a 34 X 10.5 R15 Trxus MT if I could buy that size. I prefer load C, but would consider a load D. Not E.

My legs are short and my setup is for a Trxus MT 34" tall. However, I know for a fact that a lot of guys would love to have a 35 X 10.5 or 35 X 11 or 35 X 11.5 R15 and/or R16. Essentially a radial version of the old Q78 size on a 15 X 8 wheel, or a 16 X 8 wheel.

I'm still running BFG 33 X 10.5 R15, even though I'm now setup for a Trxus MT 34 or BFG 35. I'm going to stay with BFG 33 X 10.5 R15 until Trxus MT is available in a 34 X approx 10.5 wide. A 34 X 10 to 11.2 section width would be close enough to make me happy and buy it, but I'd most prefer a 10.5 section width.

I think size 33 X 10 to 10.5 R15 Trxus MT would be very useful and popular for typical 4x4 owners with a daily driver. The average Jeeper is setup for 33" tires and 33 X 10" to 10.5" is the best DD and all purpose size, IMO. It's economical to setup a 4x4 for that tire size, and the results are great.

Guys setup slightly more hardcore (like my Jeep now is) are likely to want 34" tall Trxus MT that is 10.5" to 11" wide. Some guys would prefer this in R15 and others in R16. I prefer R15.

For hardcore guys with hardcore Jeeps, I think 35 X 10.5 to 11.2 would be ideal in R15 or R16.

I'm very interested in 33 10.5 15. I'm actually in the market now though so may wind up buying before Interco is ready. Can't quite bring myself to shell out the cash for their M-16s.
It is great that they were willing to listen to you though.
