Might consider your local laws. Here, it's illegal to run a re-tread on the wheels that steer a vehicle on public roads. Just an FYI, not trying to preach. If something bad happened and officials got wind of the retreads, might get into a world of hurt.

I have 5 of TW 33x12.5x15 MT and have had them for the past 18 months. My first shipment had a tire that took 16oz plus to balance. Called them and I had a replacement within a week. Told me to keep it - my new spare. They have been great off road - a little loud on road - and the wear has been okay. My only gripe is that I can't get that size anymore. Great customer service.

Hmmm, maybe it was a bad set? Ive had mine for quite awhile and put alot of miles on them. They are a little loud, but so is my Jeep. They're wearing like a champ and I will continue to buy from them as long as I need tires.

I'm undecided if I'd run a retread. I'll have to read this thread and think about it.

What I do know about Treadright tires is that they offer some good looking tread patters that I like. Especially a good looking hybrid type tread I like.

So I'd consider it at this point. Reading this whole thread might help me make up my mind.

I think im going to try it out, but I cant seem to find any laws regarding retreads federally or on the state level for passenger cars. the only thing I have seen is that a school bus cant have them on the steering axle.

Yeah, probably so. I was kind of hoping the two guys who polled with the "bad" retread experience would explain in the thread. Things do look pretty good for Treadwrights! I think I may give them a try when the time comes.....

Jeep Articles / General (TreadWright MTG ~ A Bitter Sweet Tire.) - MoabJeeper Magazine

Give that a read, it should help you make up your mind.

Plus, they give a 2-year, 24000 mile warranty. For the price they sell them for, you cant go wrong. If they fail within the warrantys time frame, youre covered, but if they last longer than 2 years, then youve gotten you $75-$85 worth.

I'm going to go with the Treadwright MTR's. I will call them way ahead of time so I can get some matching casings. I will report how they perform.
