tire size question

forgive me, but i am not familiar with the tire designations...

i want to put 33" AT's on next time around and am curious as to the designation of such a beast

are they 265??

depends on manufacturer. my nitto terra grapplers are 285/75R16s and measure 32.8" x 11.8"

BFGs are slightly different. check with the manufacturers websites, or just do a search here, there have been many many many many threads on this.

It depends on the other numbers, the first number 265 say is how wide the tire is in millimeters, to convert to inches you divide by 25.4, so a 265 should be 10.4 inches wide, the second number is the percentage of sidewall from width, so if 265/75, the sidewall is 265mm*.75 = 198.75mm, then convert to inches by dividing by 25.4, 198.75/25.4 = 7.82 inches. Then to get overall tire diameter, you take the last number which is the diameter of the wheel and add twice the sidewall number, so for 265/75R16, diameter = 16+2*7.82 = 31.6 inches. Just thought I would let you know where it comes from so you aren't ignorant, but here's the easy way to find out the tire size, http://www.redrock4x4.com/tech/tire_calc.php
