Tire Question - Nankang Mudstar

Hi Everyone,

Have a question. I'm looking for new tires for the TJ and have gotten a good quote for a set of Nankang Mudstar's in 32x11.5x15. Does anyone know anything about these such as wear, noise, etc? I've been looking but can't find any reviews. Info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I am also thinking about a set, the tread patern looks similar to the Maxxis Buckshot mudder.

From what I hear, they wear very quickly, are not very well built, and are probably the most hated trail tire ever. I don't own them, but I have yet to see or hear anyone complement them as a tire to buy over any other.

That's all I need to hear. If the deal sounds too good to be true it usually is. I'll keep looking, thanks.

I had Nankang tires on a horse trailer. A couple years after purchasing them 2 failed within weeks of each other. One I replaced on the road with a different brand. When the second one failed I called the 800 number on the tire. They sent me 3 tires. Would have sent me 4 but I didnt keep the one that shredded on the hwy.

So in all they took care of me but I question the quality. Also I believe that the shop I bought them from might have picked them up as closeouts. After seeing a Dateline show on tires and how to read the DOT number for mfg date I pulled up my old information. They were 4-5yrs old when I bought them.

Nankangs are sold in my area. Considering that the only contact patch the vehicle has on the road are these 4 tires, I would never buy any Chinese tires. The savings are just not worth the risk. I just don't trust them.
