Fixing a slash in sidewall?
I was wheelin tuesday and popped a hole in my 33x10.50 MT
A new tire arrived here today from Tire Rack(180$ shipped) and Iwas thinking of using the popped on as a spare, is this repairable? ![]() ![]() The cut itself is less than 1/2 inch

Most tire people will not suggest this or install it for you but I have a 33" MT with a side wall cut and I just put a tube in it. I thought I would never really need it until one morning when I came out to find my jeep sitting rim on ground. I ran the tubed spare for a few days to work and back (100+ miles) until I got my other tire fixed and it ran great. The key is to find someone who will put the tube in for you or do it yourself if you have the ability.

Tire Fix
I worked at a tire retread shop and we'd fix that sort of thing all of the time. We did mainly semi truck tires but I don't see how that'd be any different. Not good enough for everyday use but to use the tire as a spare any retread shop could do it for next to nothing ($20-$35). They will grind that whole place out and refill it with rubber and cook it in the tire oven. Easy fix if you can find a retread shop.

If the cut does not extend to the sidewall cords I would just drive it.
If the tire leaks air, at the cut, then have a boot (large hot patch) installed inside the tire. If the cut extends through the sidewall, it will probably, eventually, pinch a hole in any tube installed without the boot. Enjoy!
