Refinish 85 CJ Wagon Wheels?
New to the forum. Just bought an 85 CJ7 with original white wagon wheels that are a little rust pitted. Just using the CJ to back and forth to the beach in the summer and around town. No serious off-roading or rock crawling.
Was thinking about new rims, but looking to do more for a "preservation" than a restoration or tricking out. Want to keep it as stock as I can.
Is it worth refinishing the wagon wheels or just buying new ones? Seen some suggesting to rattle can them and move on. But didn't know if painting the wagon wheels would be like painting flames on a Benz...not a cool thing to do since they're original.
Guess your preference in the end. I took my original CJ-8 wheels off 14 years ago & had them powder coated. Moved to Central America & they still look great after a wash. Very little chipping & that is only from "tire jockeys" changing tires. I did the rattle can thing prior on about a yearly basis. Decided the powder coat was the answer.
