I don't think I would disco I can't see to many flexing situations. Keep in mind that you want as much surface area as possible when on sand. I'm not sure the exact PSI I would air down to.

airing down

It depends on whether you are dealing with hard pan or sugar-sand. Some of its characteristics are defined by the grain size. bla, blah, blah...
Also depends on how likely you are to go over the occasional stone. Also dpends on the size tire you are running- how large the sidewall is and the tread width compared to the rim width. All that being said, though, I don't know of any formula.

I would start at 15, if it feels like its digging in rather than planing over the sand, go down to 12. If the tires aren't huge, you could even operate at 8, but I wouldn't do any high speed turning or operation over rocks or you'll break the bead.

I run the same psi for sand or rocks,12-14psi depending on how fast the terrain is that is with 31"mtr,s.All depends on weight and how worried you are about peeling a tire off the bead.If i get stuck running 12 i go to 10psi and keep my speed down.

Like Blaine said, no need to disco.

I usually run 6-8 psi on the dunes here in Michigan. This is with 12.50 wide tires on 8" wheels.

Best thing to do is what the others suggested... start a little higher, maybe 12, and then go down if needed.

im going to disagree with the rest i say disco,i live by little sahara and go out there all the time and have gone both ways and discoed is best.as far as psi i run mine at 12 psi and get along good and have never popped a bead out there, lower would be better but i dont like driving the 4 miles on the highway anylower then 12.let me know when your coming down and we can go wheeling,it would be nice to wheel with another jeep instead of following 4 wheelers or sandrails.one word of advise is stay out of the swamps even if they are or look dry, trust me on this one.

I have taken mine down to 6 PSI for very soft sand in beach dunes with no problem. Start at 12-10 PSI and work down from there... Wheeling in sand is a good time!

P.S. I have never discoed in the sand, but if others in that area have and suggest it, I would... They would know...
