please confirm BS for wheel tire combo and tire choice
I have the RC 2.5" 1.25" combo and want to run 33 x 12.5" tires on some cragar soft 8s. RC says to run 4.5" of BS. I have the teraflex rear disk brake kit and had to run 50mm spacers to clear my stock wheels. I would like to ditch these, and was wondering of 4.5" BS will be enough to do that.
so if this is correct i would really like someone who knows better to confirm Cragar soft 8s, 5 x 4.5" lug, 8" wide, 15" wheels PN#3975812P has an offset of 6 and a back spacer of 4.75 http://www.cragar.com/ProductView.aspx?id=1170&bq=%3fc%3d15 Can anyone explain what the offset does and if its in mm or in? For tires i was thinking about the BFG 33x12.50R15/C (all terrain TA KO) It says it needs an 8.5 to 11" rim, but i figure an 8" may work fine. would it be better to get a 10" rim? Or should i go with the 33x 10" tires?

15x8 will work fine it's actually the prefered wheel width for a 12.50 tire...I run 4.5" backspacing on my soft 8s with a 33x12.50, many people run 4" backspacing.
the more "deep dish" the wheel, the more backspacing it will have and the further the tire will stick out past the flare and more clearance you will have from the brakes ![]() ![]()

I'm running a 33 X 10.5 R15 tire on a 15 X 8 with 4.5 BS and I have full turning radius with no rubbing. I have about 1/4" clearance between tire and LCA at full turning lock. How can you that with same 15 X 8 wheel size and 4.5 BS with same diameter 33" tire, but 2" wider tire? Do you have steer stops adjusted? Other? |

Technically the more "deep dish" the wheel is, the LESS backspacing it will have, numerically. Usually 3.75"-4" is a guarantee for 33x12.50 clearance. Apex is able to get away with a half inch more tuck, who knows.

![]() And as far as a half inch more tuck...I don't worry about my flares. The 4.5" worked perfectly ![]() ![]()
