Opinion on Tires

Ok, I just want a few more opinions...

I want to put a 3'' body lift on my 87 wrangler, I am getting 15x8 rims and my friend has 33x12.50 tires. Will all that work ok or not?? If not, then what will 15x8 rims with 31x10.50s look like? with a 2'' lift?? or should I go with a 3'' lift with the 31's??? PLEASE help me out, I'm having trouble

a 3" body lift alone wont clear 33s. the 33x12.50s will fit on the the 15x8 rims. it sounds like you trying to get the biggest tires under your jeep the cheapest you can. sorry but that only leads to problems in the long run. you gonna have to get some lift springs to run the 33s, if you want to run the 31s, get addaleafs and at the most a 2" body lift. i personally wouldnt use a body lift at all.

if you off road and flex your jeep, you'll need a 4" susp lift, and a 1" body lift.... you still may rub on occasion, i do.

I worry about going to high on the body lift. Heard to many stories
( just that stories never seen it happen) about making the body bolts weak etc. Plus the first time you attempt to really flex as said before..you will rub. I run 36's on a 4 in susp. lift and a 1in body lift. And to tell you the truth, I am going to go a little higher on the susp lift, just for good measure..

3" Body lift WILL clear for 33's, as long as your wheels are neutral offset and your springs are in good shape. However, I highly recommend a suspension lift instead, a 3" plus bigger shackles will suit you nicely. Body lifts do nothing for suspension performance, suspension lifts give you better articulation. You'll probably need extended brake hoses, too. After that, a 1" body lift and bigger fender flares will help adapt the changes (you might get a ticket if your tires stick out too far from your current fender flares).

i beg to differ on the shackle lift! shackles are crap. i tried them and it dcanged the handeling of the jeep soooo much that they wer on there just long enough for me to get the money together for springs. DO NOT GO SHACKLE LIFT i know i'm not alone on this one! you can easiliy get lifted properly (with springs) for $300-350.00. 4 wheel parts has the 4" pro comp springs out the door for $225.00. remove 1 leaf from the rear pack and the ride will smoothe out, and flex better. with my application, i put 3/4" solid stock as a spacer to lower the x-fer case. i have no vibes, and with the 1" body lift can clear the 33" tires at full articulation.
i've been a number of different routs wit this suspension crap. save yourself some money.... do it right once instead of buting crap you wont like, and redoing it next week. you'll hear a lot of negative things about the pro comp lift, but removing one leaf fixes these problems......
good luck!

I agree, I dont like shackle lifts either.....but I dont believe the word shackle has been brought up in this thread before you said it????

I also dont like my body lift either, but it was on there when I bought my Jeep. When I bought it, My Jeep had a 3" BL and 33X12.5 and they did rub, but they did fit.

BTW.....this is my 1000th post

No, my post still mentions "bigger shackles". I do like mine, however. I used 1.25" lift shackles, and I have not noticed any negative effects in my articulation. Sometimes people put too much torque on the shackle bolts, which causes them to bind....
Anyway, difference of opinion I suppose.
