nah, 235s are a bit smaller than 31s. Actually, its a 31, then 30, then 235. They are REALLY close to a 30, but not exactly. I still love mine--i'm thinking about selling them and upgrading to a 31 w/ a 2" BB. The 235s only have about 1000 miles or less on them and are in PERFECT condition, if anyone is interested let me know.

Looking for some more feedback on these tires, specifically, how do they do in the rocks?

I've had them on the rocks just fine in the Badlands 4wd park in Indiana.
Aired down to 10psi and the sidewall handled everything amazingly. They seem to be a soft compound tire and so far have run better then my Maxxis Bighorns and BFG Mud terrains (original ones) not the KMII's here's a couple vids from that trip YouTube - Badlands Red Trail 0409 1st Attempt YouTube - Badlands Red Trail 0409 Made it YouTube - Badlands Quary Wall 0409 Shay Chris

Asia is a wet and muddy place, for the most part.
It's natural that any MT made in Asia would be a functional MT in hardcore mud. Simex and Federal are both made in wet Asian nations (Simex in Malasia, and Federal in Taiwan) where they'd have lots of mud and also wet paved roads too. So it would seem logical that their tires would be made to handle mud and wet roads well. One thing I see in the pics that compare his old Buckshot 33s to this Couragia 33s is that the Federal Couragia appear to run narrow. I like that. It looks to me like their "12.5" is really an 11.5", 11.75", or 12" wide tire. I think that would make it a better tire for all purpose DD use, and also make it better in mud. The most hardcore mudders are Simex and their widths are typically 9.5, 10.5, 11, and 11.5 at widest. That's because a tall skinny MT kicks butt for mud and for DD use. A tall wide MT kicks butt for rocks, but I'm not a rockcrawler. So the narrow width (narrower than a true 12.5) looks like a bonus to me. I like Trxus for the same reason and was planning on some Trxus next time, but this Couragia is a contender, IMO, though I would get the Couragia's center treads siped for winter, if I got it. No real needd for siping them. I've been running them this winter so far here in NE OH & PA and we've had 4 days worth of lake effect and there's about 24-40" in some areas.
They have been handling the roads and highways just fine and even wet roads handle better then the Maxxis Bighorns I had previously did. They work great in mud & rocks and wish they had them in a 35x12.50x16 size, since really dont want to buy new 17" rims to buy 35's in the Federal MT's Yes there are just a tad narrower, so runs about a 10.5 vs 11.50 of the Bighorns Chris

I know OH gets some bad ice storms, but they're pretty good in the snow and ice, eh?

I think these tires are a great tire for the daily driver/weekend warrior Jeep. -They have nice wide open voids to grab roots and rocks, and toss out mud on those stricky trails. -They've got 'stone kickers' in the voids to fight gummed up mud and smaller stones. -They have 3 circumferential 'grooves' or 'channels' to help them run well thru water and rain. -The sidewalls are 3 ply, with sidebiters to help with traction. I think these really are a great mud terrain design. They have all the elements that big brand tires have, but at a fraction of the cost. Sure they will be noisier on road than an All Terrain tire, but where AT's fall short on the weekend trails, these would motor thru, giving a Jeeper more confidence in his Jeep's ability. Not to mention these are a Taiwan brand. Seeing as how Taiwan was the last refuge for the Chinese patriots when the commies started their 'revolution', I would rather buy these than an "Asian" brand in the heart of Chi-comm country. ![]() Quote:

Just for reference, Federal is part of Sumitomo which is part of Dunlop (i.e. Goodyear.)
