MTZ's vs. KM2's and what size

We are in the middle of upgrading our 99 TJ Jeep with a RE 4.5" SF lift. We have changed out the D30/D35 axles with D44's w/ARB's. We are also adding a 1" BL/MML. We are looking at getting chromoly shafts. We should have the clearance that we need for 37's but would we be able to run the 37's without much of a chance of breakage or should we just get 35's?

We currently have 33x12.5 R15 MTZ's and we haven't had a problem. We have also heard a lot of good stuff about the KM2's. What are your opinions on these 2 tires? Should we get another set of MTZ's or should we try the KM2's? Would you suggest any other tires, if so, why?

I just ordered a set of the KM2s in 35x12.5x15, cause you can get them for 700$ right now.

I was torn between those same two, and the price swayed my decision.

Do you recall where you ordered them for $700? In the market as well.

Yes, I do.
4wd.com or 4wheelparts.
I have a 4wheel parts local, so I was able to ship the tires to the store for free shipping.
Then they'll mount/balance them for a good deal cause the manager's friendly to the local clubs.
If you join/are on 4wd.com's store forum you can get a discount too.
Cheapest by far I've found them. (shipping was like 70$ so still not bad)

I'm going with the KM2's the next time around instead of the MTZ's. Not that i dont like the mickeys, I just want to give the new tire a try. I like the Krawlers, So their new m/t has got to be close. I'm still curious on how many miles the new KM2 will last mileage wise with light wheeling. Id get 35's for $700, Thats a pretty good price. Good luck on whatever tire you go with

I'm a fan of BFG tires. My KMs have worn great.

We're leaning more towards the KM2's, but we just want to get as much input as possible before we buy!

Not happy with MTZs. I'm getting KM2s sooner than I'd hoped, thanks to MTZs.

37's is the new 35

you will be fine with 37's just dont use alot of throttle

A friend of mine is running 37's on his xj with a 44 rear and a 30 front stock shafts and he hasnt broke yet
he ran all over moab last year and has been wheeling on them for almost a year
you just have to remember to crawl everything not hammer down on everthing

Had BFGs, now have 35x12.5 MTZs
Couldn't be happier - The MTZs do great on snow IMO.

I love both sets of my MTZ's. 15000 miles on my 38's and still 18/32nds.
