If enough of us do that, they will listen. The reason they haven't already done it is that they assume there is no demand for it.

If they find out there is a demand for it, then they'll start making it.

See post 1169.

Why don't those interested post the goodyear link to their signature for that extra attention? Just a suggestion

Sorry guys, I think a 33" tire is too much sidewall on a 15" rim. I asked for a 255/85/16 or a 33x10.5R17. Personally I'm surprised no one makes a 33x10.5R17. It seems like a perfect size for many applications. It would be an easy upgrade for JK owners, FJ cruisers, Tacomas and a lot of other trucks that come stock with a 265/75/16 or 17".

Then the 34x9.50 that Interco has must really suck

BFG has made the 33" size for many years in the AT/MT/Baja styles, even in a 33x9.50R15. And if they have to add a ply to the sidewall to strengthen it, so be it.
I'm kinda old school in the fact that I want more tire for traction and conforming to obstacles, and less wheel to get bent or broken.

I know that doesn't fit today's thinking. But then I remember when if you wanted a "Big Tire", you had to run 16.5" wheels and adapters.

Viva la "choice"

DD Recommended Size

I hate doing this, but here goes. I did search and search and the more I searched, the more confused I became. What size, etc.
I have a bone stock 07 Rubicon with the OEM standard tires and wheels (17). I need to replace the tires. I have been off road once since I got the car (March '10). This Rubicon is my DD and I love the car. My chief requirement is sound! I want a quieter tire. The original tires are 32" or so and I would like to replace the tires with 33's or as close as possible. I have read that there will be some rubbing at full turns.
Can someone recommend a replacement size. I have been at Tire Rack and there are a sizes, sizes and sizes. I am clueless.
Can someone who has a rubi, recommend a Goodyear Duratrac tire in a slightly taller tire (33's) size?

Thanks
Russ

Looks like they only have a 32 or a 34. As others have mentioned, there is no 33 for a 17" rim. If there is enough demand they would likely make them, but that would need to be a lot of requests.

Oh and FYP...

Maybe you need to go to a 34? Doubt it will fit stock, but I really have no idea.

285/70R17 is listed at 32.8 (about typical for a 33")

Duratrac E's 245/75/16E

Got E range on my stock LJ.
Very stiff/rough at 45psi from the shop.
Dropped them to 34psi and liking them there.
245/75/16E is Rubicon stock from the factory for my model/year.
Not really sure if it's because of the hard top or not.
Come to think of it. I haven't had the hard top on yet since I
got the Duras.

Just got a set of duratracs 33x12.50x15 today. I must say these are absolutely awesome. Very quiet, got rid of an annoying rattle I had with my old mud tires. Buy these tires if you're considering them.

And they look awesome.

quick update, some stuff was previously stated

got my tires half way though last winter, about 3 months ago the 2 fronts were acting funny (shook when turning). took em back in wheel weights were still on, re balanced=couldnt be balanced. determined they had a defect somehow so i got 2 new fronts FOR FREE. problem gone since

overall tires starting to wear more (normal wear, i mean ive just had em for a while) and i THINK im starting to hear them more. i dont know if i just got used to it compared to the MTR's or what but i am starting to hear em a bit. but nowhere near my MTR's. going to be putting the hard top on soon.

Mine started doing the exact same thing at about the 3000mi mark.......by about 4000mi on them, it became a lot worse but couldn't see any discernible wear patterns or defects. Thought as you did figuring maybe a thrown wheel weight or something. Took it into the shop, and the outside lugs had just started cuping and figure a rotation will solve it. The vibration in turns, slow speeds, and stops went away at least. Will let you guys know soon. I'm still impressed with these, but realize they need to be maintained as though they are a true mud tire and not an A/T, due to there slightly more aggressive design and larger outer lugs. Looks like ill be checking alignment and rotating every 2-3000mi instead of the normal 5-7000. Good thing I have lifetime free alignments w/tire rotation at Firestone!!!!!!!

Haven't had balancing issues yet with them, still round, no wheel shimmy...and this is on cragar steelies and 5 wheeling trips over the summer. Have about 18k on them now and still wearing very well. I'm thinking of selling them though so I can get a bigger tire (33 inch kevlars).

Do these have a 2 or 3 ply sidewall? I'm having a lot of trouble finding tires for 16" rims that aren't a load E rating. For a $180/ tire I can get 265/75R16s in a load C. This is a lot of money for an AT and I can't say I'm completely sold on them.
