Goodyear Wrangler Authoritys
just some info, if anyone needs a good tire for cheap in a 31-10.50 walmart actually has a pretty decent "mud" tire, i was in a pinch and cut two tires on a rock tryin to get up a creek bank and walmart was the only place i could get some tires to get me by, i ended up around 550 for 4 of em', since then i went and done a little woods and creek ridin and they seem to do great, not as good as my swampers of course but for some cheap tires to throw on your stock rims for backup or DD they are great. Like i said just some info on them if anyone else gets in that big of a pinch.

I LOVE these tires. I have them on my ,ehm, Nissan. They are 100 times better than the BFG ko's that were on there before. 31x10.5r15 cost me about $650. I am more impressed than I thought I would be. Wal-mart is everywhere, just about. Lifetime rotation/balance you can't really beat it, imo. Every time I put them to work I am not let down. Give 'em a chance. They clean out very well, too.

That's about the only choice we have out here Im from Ohio so I have a pretty good idea as to what the terrain differences are, and you're right... more muddy hills to climb than rocky trails.

I am thinking of getting a set of these tires as well, the are rated for 60,000 miles so I wonder how they wear? Anything is better than the crappy 31"s I have now that the PO got from Pep Boys(JUNK!). He replaced the tires knowing the tie-rods were shot what a dumb SOB. I do like the no hassle pro rate policy Wal-Mart has thats why Im leaning toward these, plus the lifetime balance and rotate=FTW.

Got mine 265/75R16 Load range C, back in December. So far I LOVE THEM! They have been doing great in the snow, which is good 'cause it's snowing like the DICKENS RIGHT NOW! The certainly ride much better than the load range E MTR's
Haven't gotten in the deep mud yet, soon though! I betting they do alot better than the MTRs

I just put a set of 265/75/16 Authority's on my Rubi and promptly drove it a couple hundred miles up to NC & spent the weekend playing in the snow & mud on some logging trails.
Prolly the single biggest advantage is I can now hear myself think on the freeway - Some may scoff, but I have no love for incessant howling coming from my tires. I actually like hearing the radio.... the MTR's were, as y'all know, awful riding, obnoxious pavement pounders. The Authority's are much more pleasant on pavement & the 265 Load Range "C" rides significantly better than the "E" on the Jeep.
I had zero contact issues with the 265's on my stock suspension. Flexed out moderately (lifted front left tire) and had no issues. I didn't max out my wheel travel & try lock-to-lock turning though.
Average snow was about 4" over a mixture of loose rock & small boulders as well as some very soft powder over grass/mud, the deepest drifts were over 12". Tires cleaned well, deepest mud was about 10" with a solid base & I idled through in 2nd low range with no wheelspin. Did much better than my AT KO's of past in the mud/slushy stuff.
Overall, with about 600 miles pavement & 30 on the trails I am very happy with the Authority's & would recommend them to anyone wanting a bit more than an AT without dealing with the side effects of a full MT.
