Goodyear MTR on 15X8
I have a set of 15 X 8 wheels and I am planning on putting the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 35 X 12.5 X 15 on them. Their website does not recommend anything lower than 8.5" width rims. I am a little concerned that there may be reasoning behind this with the kevlar sidewalls. Is anyone running 12.5s with 8" rims. Have you had any problems? I have no problem telling a mechanic to just mout and balance them, but I want to make sure I shouldnt be putting them on 10" rims. Thanks to all!!!

12.5" tires will fit on 8" rims. Often called the "poor man's" bead lock. I plan on putting 33x12.5x15s on my canyons

There is nothing wrong with running a 12.5" wide tire on 8" wheels if you go to a 10" wheel an air down you may loose the bead. Almost every one runs 12.5" wide tires on an 8" wide wheel. The reason for this is they hold the bead better, the wear better and they handle on the road better. But 12.5" wide tire is the limit. The rule of thumb for years has be 4" but there is about a half an inch of fudge room in there. If you were going to a 13+" wide tire they you would have to go to a 10" wide wheel.

I was just wondering if there was something in particular about the wranlgler mtr w/ the kevlar sidewall that i had to watch out about. I ordered them up along with Cragar 15 x 8 wheels so we will see how it works out. Only down side is they say Goodyear is backed up and it will take a couple weeks. Hopefully they come sooner!

Tire manufacturers ALWAYS recommend 12.50's go on 8.5" -10" wheels ... Because they have to be extremely conservative, because slip-n-fall lawyers are always eager to exploit a business when a clown spills hot coffee in their lap.

Tires installed and look great! Have not used them offroad yet, but they look awesome and run nice on the road! Not too loud at all!
