Just back from Goodyear dealer. Bad news, so far... Bought 5 33x12.50 15LT"s....
My Jeep with a new 2 1/2 " RC lift, and a 1" body lift, and installing on the (oem) 2005 TJ rims, RUB LIKE HECK. The front tire hits the frame and the steering stabilizer on a full turn... I can drop to the next lowest size, or the dealer is pricing spacers to install. They tell me "they install them all the time".... Sh*!! Ideas? PS Even with the white walls they look sweet.

What is the backspacing on your wheels? I would buy wheels before I bought spacers, and spacers and steel wheels aren't too far off equal price. Short term, just adjust the steering stops.

If I could get away with adjusting the stops only, man I would.
But, the back end of the tire is hitting the frame. Any reccomendations on steel rims? I see not many people like spacers much.... I have the Ravine rims 15x8 aluminum * 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern * Backspacing = 5.5" * Optional wheel with 30" tire package * Offset = +25 mm

I keep finding stuff like this when I search ......
Quote- Rough country 2.5"SL/1.25BL combo for $389 with an additional 10% discount for being a JF member. That will give you what you need to clear 33's with out rubbing.

That's the problem. Most big tire trucks use aftermarket wheels that have the typical aftermarket backspace of 3.75. That's about the space you would need to clear things. Guys use those size tires on that truck model all the time without spacers because they don't use wheels with stock backspacing.

That lift combo will work - but you might still need to adjust bumpstops front and rear. I've been running 33's (285/70/17) for several years w/ only a 2.5" OME lift. The tires would contact the front fenders when articulating, but not enough to cause any major damage. I did do the rear bumpstops, though. For tire contact while turning you need to do as was suggested and get shallow backspacing. I know several have just posted that there are good deals on aluminum or steel wheels at Summit Racing. My $0.02 - I would suggest aluminum for better handling, due to their lower weight.

Spacers? Run the next size down. If I look for new rims, which back space is best for my app.?

A common dimension is 3.75". Friends with 35's on TJ run that with no problems.

Not a problem, even with the trailer. Dream tires so far; hope I don't wake up. Ummm, late warning. The 33's are a big 33... ![]() ![]()

Not trying to get off track here in a tire thread, but if your looking for a good wheel on Summit website,,,, just be sure to check out these. They may be what what is used on the JT as a solid bare wheel. Powder coating in just about any color is available. The width and offset is just about anything you can amagine too. Besides, I 'm going with the 33's, just have to decide what wheels to use. I might just use the ones int this link for a little RETRO look and rattle can to match the stone white.
