Dynabeads "what are they?" Find out here...

Dynabeads Write-up

I am going to do a small write-up on installing dynabeads into your tires. The purpose of the beads is to balance your tires. They eliminate the need to rebalance them in the future. The tire is balanced everytime it rolls from a stop, starting at around 25-35 mph. There are two types of beads: regular dynabeads and off-road beads. The off road beads are recommended for off road type tires, such as mud terrains, swampers, etc, that are difficult to balance. When i first started using dynabeads in my swampers, i was using the regular beads and not getting the best results. Innovative Balancing told me that i should try the off road kit, which uses large beads (8 oz) so I am giving it a try on my stubborn Trxus Mud Terrains that refuse to balance.

The kit cost $62 shipped and here's what it consists of:

Four 8oz packages of off road beads and instructions

Optional items you can purchase are:

Valve stem install applicator and valve core removal:

I purchased the applicator and core removal on my last purchase from them. Since i have the larger beads, they will not fit through the valve core so i have to put them in the tire by removing on side of the tire off the wheel. You can try this yourself or have a shop do it for you. I am going to attempt it myself.

Here's an example i found that shows how the dynabeads work inside a tire:

I will post results once I get them installed and see how they "fix" my tire balancing problem.

I put these in my trxus tires, which were impossible to balance and had a bad wobble at 45 and shake at 60+. The tires are completely different now. No wobble, no shakes, just perfectly smooth all the way up to 80 mph. I'm very impressed. I recommend these to anyone looking for a balancing solution.

any updates?!? I just found a tire shop that is not just willing to install the offroad beads for me, but they are interested to see the results!

They work You don't have to balance the tires ever again. They are wearing perfectly and I haven't even rotated them yet.

Some advice: don't let the tire guys use lube to install the tires or else the beads will stick to it and chunk up. Set one side of the tire on the wheel and leave the other side off to pour in the beads. If you have both sides of the tire off the wheel when you install the beads, you risk them fall out. I learned this the hard way.

My tire guy was curious about this too. He's a xj wheeler like us and never heard of this stuff before.

I wonder how much each offroad bead weighs? Thinking I could use some heavy airsoft bbs like .20gram or .25 gram ones instead..

Aye, that'll work. That's the budget balancing solution. Just weigh 8oz of bb's and throw em in there. Works the same way.

I tried to use Airsoft BBs (0.12 grams each) to balance my Super Swamper TSL Bias tires (36x12.5-15LT). Had 2000 BBs in each tire, which is roughly 8 oz. This was on Walker Evans beadlock rims.

Tires were absolutely horrible. Couldn't drive faster than about 38 mph without really bad steering wobble that would get worse as speed increased, turning into full blown death wobble at about 48 mph.

Vacuumed all the BBs out and had the tires spin balanced. Now they run just fine. Turned out one of the tires was off by 20 oz and one by 14. The other two were off by around 10.

I got these tires used (barely - still have almost 100% tread). Previous owner kept them for a week and couldn't stand the ride. Now that I have them balanced, they are liveable, and I'll be keeping them, but when they are worn out I will be looking for something made by someone other than Interco...

If using any sort of balancing media it is required to mount them up and check the weight required so you know you are adding enough BB's. If a tire was off by 20 oz of course they wobbled like crazy with only 8 oz in each tire.

So how did you figure out how much to put in each tire? Did you take them to a tire shop first? Or did you just put the same amount in each one?
Never heard of this before but I am quite intrigued by them.

The shop that did mine mounted the tires and put them all on the balancer, the required weight for the worst one was 4.5 oz so we knew it would be fine with the 8 oz per tire that I planned to add. (I had premeasured 8 oz bags of airsoft BB's and supplied to the shop)

Same thing happend to my first set of trxus mt's. They gave me a "bad set" of tires and the beads actually made it worse. From what i know, a tire that's severely out of balance will not get along with balancing beads. I had a bad shake at 45 mph where the tire would visually shake back and forth (not exactly death wobble) and the steering would follow. I had the beads taken out and balanced with traditional weights. I had weights 1/2 way around the wheel and it drove "ok" but still shook so I had them replaced under warranty with a new set that I run the beads in and no issues.
