Dueler Revo check....

Just bought some Dueler Revo AT's, 31", and needed some quick info on what others are running PSI wise on these. I don't have time yet to do the chalk test but could use a quick guesstimate. They are on an 02' Sport, Soft top, no lift (yet!), not loaded down with anything except the crager steel wheels. Thanks.

Forgot to mention these are 31x10.5. Just want to get an idea of what you all are running yours at. Thanks.

The number you find on the sidewall is the max psi for max load. If you run your tires at this psi, your ride will be about as good as if you ran solid farm implement tires and the center of the tread will wear far faster that the outside edges which is not very good for tire life.

Not familar with this tire but 25-30 psi should be a good start off range.

Ha, ha.. I figured that! The shop put about 32 in them for now but I was figuring I would probably have to drop it to around 27-29 until I could test it. Thanks for the info!

I've got 28lbs in mine currenty, they put 32lbs in them when I bought them, and I noticed there were alot of "nubs" still on the outside lugs of the tire.

With 28lbs, I still have some "nubs" or vent marks as my Grandfather says their called (He's a Firestone retiree) on the very edge of the outer lugs. I would say this is close, but I have yet do a chalk test.

I just got a new set of Revos on my ZJ and run 37 psi in them. The sticker says 36. Don't go lower than what the sticker says and don't go higher than what the max pressure says on the tire.

Like the pressure molded onto the sidewall, the pressure on the sticker is meant for when the vehicle is carrying its full load... all passenger seats loaded and carrying max luggage. The vehicle is at its maximum allowable weight in other words.

For all other times, a lower pressure than what the sticker says is appropriate.

sorry for the OT Rant.... i just deal with people who do this all day long. Computer Nerds who get off on that sort of thing, and think i'm weird.

(lj)

gotcha...

only problem is there is no "set" pressure...you'd have to make a table of pressures on the side...

proper pressure for a 31x10.50 would be different on a 15x7 than it would a 15x8...and would be different based on how much weight was on the vehicle (tubed out, lots of storage, heavy tire carrier, etc)...

Yeah, nobody should get their panties in a wad over this one. The correct answer is "there is no correct answer". If the guy doesn't have time to do the chalk test then he is just stabbing in the dark. I think lonejeeper was just saying don't go over what is on the side of the tire. That being said, the chalk test could have been done about as quick as it takes to get on the pc and start a thread.

anyway, back on topic...

I've heard of the chalk test, as an 'old-timey' sort of trick.... is it really worth doing?

lj

ps. I'm cleaning my messages off this thread... no need for that extra crap.

absolutely...

it's the only "real" way to see if you have the right pressure for your specific setup...
