Costs to replace Brakes & Rotors for 99 Jeep?

I am about ready to hit 100,000 on my 99 jeep grand cherokee and I have not replaced brake pads or rotors. I am know that I need to get them replaced... I have had no problems with them at all but I am assuming they are ready to be replaced.

My question is.... can anyone give me a rough estimate about what I should expect to pay? And I am assuming that there are different pads and rotors that one can buy. Can anyone tell me top end of the price I should expect to pay? And what I should tell the mechanic shop to use as a replacement for my brakes and rotors.

Help is much appreciated.

JT

its CHEAP!!! dont even think about the price. its retartedly cheap. i had to replace both calipers(water damage) and pads for the front and it was like 50 bucks with lifetime warranty(autozone). just make sure you turn in your cores.

I just recently acquired a '00WJ and unfortunately I cannot give you any solid numbers here, but expect to pay more than $50. Thug Nasty has a TJ and he went a pretty inexpensive route; the TJs also only have front discs. I just did an overhaul on my TJ and it cost $136 for new rotors (cheapest - $43) and pads (mid-grade - $35). The ZJ is probably going to be around twice that since we have discs on all four corners. This is of course assuming you are doing all the labor yourself. I'd say to be safe, plan on $300 or more...how does that sound for a rough estimate?

I haven't paid for a brake job in... forever, so I cannot say anything about labor rates. All I know is my buddy couldn't afford a brake job at the shop, instead I helped him do it for $300 less and I supplied the beer. It was kind of backwards now that I think about it!

sorry about that. i remember, the calipers were 19 bucks each and pads added up to be around 50. if you wanted to do a full brakejob, i guess it could get over 100 bucks if you replaced 4 rotors, calipers, and put new pads on it. with 100K on them, they should still have quite a bit of life still in them i think. anyways, good luck, and make sure youve got a big hammer.
